Pick-up/Drop-off Information

Morning Arrival and Drop off

The campus opens for student playground supervision at 7:10 a.m. Breakfast is served from 7:10 – 7:40 am. If your student is having breakfast in the cafeteria, they may enter at 7:10am.  Students must be on campus for the line up bell by 7:40 a.m. daily.  School starts promptly at 7:45 a.m.

 Parents may drive or walk students to school.

• If driving, please use the valets on the westside on Ave. L8 or the north side on 35^th St. West. 
• Please pull all the way up to the school aide at the cones. 
• Please exercise caution when exiting the parking lot. Please turn right when exiting the valet line to help keep traffic moving.
• Remain in your car and have your student exit your vehicle on the curb side onto the sidewalk.
• If walking, please use the crosswalks to arrive on campus, following directions from the crossing guard.
• If parking and walking up to campus, please park on the street off L8 or 35^th Street.
• Students are NOT to enter campus through the school office.

Afternoon Pick Up

After school pick up

Both 35th Street and L8 parking lots are closed to parent parking after school. The 35th Street parking lot is open to valet pick up only. The L8 parking lot is designated for buses, daycare pick up vans and handicap parking only (cones are placed at the entrance to allow for those vehicles only). 

• TK will be released from the White gate on L-8. 
• Kinder will be released from the 35th street gate near L-8. 
• 1st and 2nd grade will be released from the Front Office gate on L-8. 
• 3rd and Valet will be released from the 35th street gate near L-8. 
• 4th and 5th grade students will be released through the large gates on 35th street west. 
• 3rd-5th Walking/bus students exit through the front office gate on on L-8.
• 6th grade students are released through the double gate on L-8. 

Students will be kept on campus behind the gates until a parent/guardian arrives at the gate to receive the student.

If using the 35th Street Valet, please stay in your vehicle. Teachers will radio for your student. 
There is only one lane for pick up. Follow the instructions of the teachers on duty. 

Older siblings are to meet their younger sibling(s) in the dismissal area and released from that gate.
If parking and walking up to campus, please park on the street off L8 or 35th Street. 
Parents are not allowed in the pick-up area on the sidewalk closest to the school in the 35th Street parking lot. 
There is only one entrance and one exit in our parking lots. Left turns out of the parking lots are not permitted during drop off and pick up. 

TK & Kindergarten Pick-up
TK pick-up is on the eastern side of the Ave L-8 parking lot
Kindergarten pick-up is in the parent waiting area on the north section of the 35th Street parking lot. 

• TK/Kindergarten parents walk up to this gated area to collect your student from their teacher.
• Older siblings should meet their kindergarten sibling in the Kinder waiting area near the 35th Street parking lot. 

Students may not remain on school campus after school dismissal unless they are participating in a scheduled event, tutoring, or registered in an After-School Program.  Tutoring programs are offered to qualifying students during the school year. 

Our main priority is safety for students, so it is expected that everyone follow traffic signs, crossing guard and teacher instructions, and these guidelines. Your cooperation helps us to create a safe, structured school community. We truly appreciate it.

 

Bus Transportation

Some Valley View students are eligible to ride the bus to school as long as they abide by the bus rules. The rules are designed to ensure the safety of all students who ride the bus, and you are encouraged to stress the importance of following these rules with your child. Requests to change buses will be granted only in the event of an emergency. Students may not transfer buses to visit a friend, attend practices or meetings, or for other social reasons. The bus rules are designed to ensure the safety of all students who ride the bus. If you have any questions regarding bus transportation, Please call the Antelope Valley Schools Transportation Agency at (661) 945- 3261.

Riding Bicycles

A student must be in 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th grade to ride a bike to school unless a parent accompanies them both ways. They must park and lock the bike in the bike rack that is located near the west gate on 35th Street. Bicycles may not be ridden on school grounds. The law states that anyone under the age of 18 must wear a helmet when riding a bicycle. Students riding their bikes to and from school must wear bicycle helmets or parents will be called and asked to pick up the student and their bike. Valley View assumes no responsibility for bicycles. Students should always lock their bicycle to the bike rack. 

Skateboards, scooters, or any other kind of skates may NOT be used for transportation to and from school and are not permitted on campus.
